Judy Larkin

Judy studied history of art at Birkbeck, University of London, developing a fascination for 20th-century modern and decorative art which she studied in greater depth at the V&A. This led her onto sculpting in stone learning the skills and techniques at West Dean College. She has exhibited in London, Sussex and Surrey including the RHS Wisley Summer Show, and the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition 2014. Her work has recently been included in collections in London, Dubai, Spain, the Netherlands and New York.

Her interest lies in modern art and architecture, in the effects of form and structure, texture and light. By honing her forms to a sculptural simplicity she believes she can arrive at a new purity. She exploits the particular stone she is working to suit the form.  Her work references many different cultures including primitive African, Oriental art and some of the exciting experiments taking place in contemporary sculpture.
