Timothy Kent

Tim Kent studied at the City University of New York and West Dean College in Sussex.  He lives and works in Brooklyn, New York and has a growing international reputation.  He has recently painted a series of interiors of major British stately homes and is fascinated by interior spaces and the people who inhabit them. These historic rooms have a palpable sense of history redolent of generations of past owners.  In his contemporary studies figures take on a central role; here, Kent explores the nature of people behind closed doors and the way they consume their lives.  Kent describes himself as, ‘a semantic voyeur of people and a manic semiologist of things.’

His work is in the collections of the Duke of Buccleuch and Queensberry; Uppark House, West Sussex; Parham House, West Sussex and The Edward James Foundation.  He has completed many commissions for leading New York companies including Hugo Boss, Levi Corporation, and the Interior decorators Adam Grenier and Miles Redd.
