Sandra Whitmore

After studying graphics at Epsom School of Art, Sandra took up a career in advertising, working at a number of agencies in London and Paris before taking up the position of Art Director at Collet Dickinson Pearce. Sandra went on to set up her own company providing creative support and devising advertising campaigns for agencies. She became a professional painter several years ago. Many of her paintings take as a starting point the landscape of Chichester harbour and the Downland woods, working on several paintings concurrently to keep them fresh and immediate. She is a frequent traveller to India, relishing the warmth and bright colours of the country. Recently, she has been exploring a series of paintings of gardens, plant seed heads and insects, closely observed in her own potting shed. She works loosely in a variety of media, often mixing media and techniques such as ink, gouache and pencil.  She revels in the texture of paint and the linear rhythm of her semi-abstract compositions.
